Douglas has a very loud laugh, says ‘yeah… yeah… yeah…’ a lot, and loves to wear slight variations of the same checked shirt. His credentials also suggest that he’s a one of the best marketers in the industry.
Douglas has over 20 years experience in direct and digital marketing, working in all major product and service categories including Financial, Telecommunications, Automotive, Not for profit, Leisure and Government.
For the last 18 years of his career Douglas has been directing brands in the digital and direct space, writing robust realistic digital and direct strategies with excellent results for Skoda, VB, Optus, Telstra, Lexus, Sydney Olympics 2000 and Rugby World Cup 2003. For a decade he was Managing Partner of Direct and CRM at George Patterson, in this time his team won over 40 Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA) Awards.
In May 2000, Douglas was announced as “Australian Direct Marketer of the Year’ and in September 2005 ‘one of the five best’ marketers by Marketing Magazine. In 2006 he was elected Chairman of the Board of the Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA). He is currently the chair of the Mobile Marketing Awards and the Country Chairman of the International Caples Awards.
Douglas has a regular marketing Podcast called Mongrel Marketing, which is a resource for senior marketers to cross breed themselves with new skills, with a focus on digital marketing. He also writes regular columns for Marketing Magazine and AdNews.
